Summary: Dean and Sam are on the trail of a demon in Arkansas. Behaving a lot like a serial killer. Enough that it attracts the attention of the BAU. Because more attention from law enforcement is, of course, exactly what Sam wanted in his life.
Rating: PG-13
Characters/Pairings: *deep breath* Aaron Hotchner, David Rossi, Jennifer Jareau, Derek Morgan, Spencer Reid, Kate Callahan, Penelope Garcia, Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester
Warnings/Tags: violence, squick, gore, horror, graphic discussions of torture, mentions of rape…possibly a swear or two?
Spoilers: “No Way Out,” “No Way Out II: The Evilution of Frank,” and “Nelson's Sparrow.” General spoilers for both shows, but for both Supernatural and Criminal Minds, this story is not tied too closely to either timeline. If it really bugs you, this takes place somewhere in the back half of season 10 of both shows (kind of eps 15-16ish, but I'm not going to be talking about the Mark of Cain, or Cas's Grace, or Hotch's breakup, or any of that. The only story arc element that gets touched on is the recent death of Jason Gideon (*sniff*). Beyond that, no major story arc connections.
Disclaimer: Criminal Minds and everything associated with it was created by Jeff Davis and is the property of CBS Television Studios. Supernatural and everything associated with it was created by Eric Kripke and is the property of Warner Bros. Television. No money has changed hands and no copyright infringement is intended or implied.
Author’s Notes: The title of this fic refers to the Criminal Minds episodes “No Way Out,” and “No Way Out II: The Evilution Of Frank.” There are not two preceding fics and this is not part of a series. Sorry if there's any confusion.

I am an American, writing about American characters. I make no apologies for the cultural references. Though I do welcome any questions, and I have explained some of the ones that might be a little abstruse in the author's notes at the end.

Also, for anyone easily squicked out, let me be absolutely clear: the warnings are not a joke or a precaution. Despite its penchant for unhappy endings, Supernatural has never been even remotely close to as dark or violent—even during mid-season cliffhangers or season finales—as Criminal Minds is every damn week. That is a show that routinely plumbs the depth of human depravity, which is a very deep well. While, yes, the SPN side of this fic is present and accounted for, I feel that it does achieve CM-appropriate levels of horrible. This bad guy is very bad and he does very bad things, which I am going to spell out for you in exactly so many words, and I will not be pausing in the flow of the story to give you a heads up. This is your last warning!

No Way Out III )
bungakertas: (Default)
Summary: Abel's walls have come down and everyone has to get to New Canton somehow. But even without his comms shack, Sam isn't about to leave his runners out there without him.
Characters/Pairings: Sam Yao, Runner Five
Warnings/Tags: zombies, violence, gore, horror, minor character death
Spoilers: All of season one.
Disclaimer: The characters of Zombies, Run! and all that comes with them are the property of Six To Start and Naomi Alderman. No money has changed hands, and no copyright infringement is intended or implied.
Author’s Notes: The last episode of season one ends with Abel having already been attacked, but a lot of people still there. The first episode of season two starts with most of Abel's surviving population as refugees in New Canton and Abel largely destroyed. Which means that pretty much all of Abel's population had to get to one place from the other. But we're never told how.

The ending to this one is kinda sad. Just so you know.

Rating: PG
Summary: "Go to Peru and take possession of O-8-4." Oh, if only the mission were as simple as the orders.
Characters/Pairings: established Phil Coulson/Tony Stark/Pepper Potts/Darcy Lewis (off-screen); otherwise mostly gen with some tiny little pre-sedoretu for another group
Warnings/Tags: weird relationships, sedoretu, AU-canon, rarepairs
Spoilers: Captain Americas 1 and 2; Thor I & II; The Avengers; Iron Mans 1, 2, and 3; Agents Of SHIELD — Basically everything. The Agents Of SHIELD spoilers are the biggies, though.
Disclaimer: The characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and all that comes with them are the property of Marvel Studios, ABC, or both. No money has changed hands, and no copyright infringement is intended or implied.
Author’s Notes: This is the next in my MCU sedoretu series that begins in “Compatible Weirdness.” It follows after “The UnTeam.” I highly recommend you read those two first or else you will be confuzzled.

Spoilers: Everything through the season 9 finale is up for grabs.
Author's Notes: I wrote this in response to an “imagine” from the supernaturalimagine tumblr. This is, in essence, a short prompt or idea submitted by someone about Supernatural. They range from adventurous to romantic, but most involve a reader-insert. This is one such imagine, the conceit of which is that the reader is part of the SPN gang. The UnTeam

bungakertas: (Default)
Rating: PG
Summary: Phil Coulson is not about to let SHIELD or a minor case of temporary deadness stop him from finding out why he can't go back to his family. It's probably going to take a while, though. And if he happens to put together a team and save some lives getting there, so be it.
Author’s Notes: This is the sequel to my MCU sedoretu fic “Compatible Weirdness” and is going to start into the Agents Of SHIELD story. (If you have not read “Compatible Weirdness,” I recommend doing that before reading this, because you will probably be making a lot of question mark faces if you don’t.) This is going to have a slower pace, and it will start off mainly canon-compliant, but not totally (this will be less and less true as I get further along). Coulson’s got to find a way back to his family, after all. Most likely, I will post these at something like one fic per episode.

To be honest, I wrote “Compatible Weirdness” because I wanted to write this story. Or rather, the story that this is the first installment of. The Phil-figures-out-how-to-get-his-family-back story. But I needed to write the groundwork Phil-has-a-family story first. As you read through “Compatible Weirdness,” you’ll have noticed that I didn’t deviate too much from the canon. A line of dialogue here, a scene or two there. But overall, things fell out like they did in the films. Which was deliberate. Adding sedoretu and sticking Phil, Tony, Pepper, and Darcy in one is not a massive change…at first. So the first ripples of change are small. But then Phil died, and his having a family motivated him to find out that he was really, properly dead much faster in this story than he did in canon. Which is a fairly big ripple. And that’s going to make more ripples. This installment pretty much runs along the same lines as the show, but the next one does not. So, if all you’re looking for is perspective-shift + sedoretu, I can’t help you. From here on out, things are going to start being different.

Please bear in mind as you read this, that the story can only know what the narrator character knows. And while Phil does his best to be honest with himself, he doesn’t have everything figured out.

Also, if you haven’t been watching Agents of SHIELD, you really ought to start. Really.

Summary: Phil Coulson (who is a dork) thought he was married to his job. But that was before he met...well, several people, actually.
Characters/Pairings: Phil Coulson|Pepper Potts x Tony Stark|Darcy Lewis, other MCU characters flit in and out too
Warnings/Tags: weird relationships, sedoretu, AU-canon, unusual pairings
Spoilers: Captain America; Thors I and II; Avengers; Iron Mans 1, 2, and 3; Agents Of SHIELD — Basically everything.
Disclaimer: The characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and all that comes with them are the property of Marvel Studios, ABC, or both. No money has changed hands, and no copyright infringement is intended or implied.
Author’s Notes: I mostly wrote this to see if I could. I’ve never written anything shippy before. (So, naturally, I jump in with a sedoretu-fic. What?) Let me know how you think I did.

The title is based on the following quote. “We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.” Dr. Seuss

Note for readers unfamiliar with sedoretu:

Society is divided into two halves or moieties, called (for ancient religious reasons) the Morning and the Evening. You belong to your mother's moiety, and you can't have sex with anybody of your moiety.

Marriage is a foursome, the sedoretu — a man and a woman from the Morning moiety and a man and a woman from the Evening moiety. You're expected to have sex with both your spouses of the other moiety, and not to have sex with your spouse of your own moiety. So each sedoretu has two expected heterosexual relationships, two expected homosexual relationships, and two forbidden heterosexual relationships.

The expected relationships within each sedoretu are:
- The Morning woman and the Evening man (the "Morning marriage")
- The Evening woman and the Morning man (the "Evening marriage")
- The Morning woman and the Evening woman (the "Day marriage")
- The Morning man and the Evening man (the "Night marriage")

The forbidden relationships are between the Morning woman and the Morning man, and between the Evening woman and the Evening man, and they aren't called anything, except sacrilege.

It's just as complicated as it sounds, but aren't most marriages?

Being Bart

bungakertas: (batfic)
Title: Being Bart
Rating: PG
Summary: Bart Allen muses on what he is and what he isn’t. And does some schoolwork, but that doesn’t come into the story much.
Characters/Pairings: Bart Allen, Tim Drake, Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson
Warnings: so much fluff it could drown you
Disclaimer: “Impulse,” “Batman”, and all related characters and situations are the property of DC Comics, Warner Brothers, or both. No money changed hands and no copyright infringement is intended or implied.
Author’s Notes: This is in the same continuity as “World’s Finest?” and “Crimefighting’s For The Birds.” Also, I am apparently allergic to writing Batman stories that actually feature Batman as a main character. What the heck, brain?

The AU is not very AU-y, BTW. I’m just meshing comics with the DCAU. DCAU takes precedence, though if I get this series written very far it will be a DCAU that goes towards Batman Beyond with a less lonely and unhappy Bruce than canon!Bruce.
Series: The DC Stories

Being Bart )
bungakertas: (batfic)
Title: Crimefighting's For The Birds
Rating: Erm…PG to PG-13. Ish.
Pairing(s): none
Disclaimer: “Batman” and all related characters and situations are the property of DC Comics, Warner Brothers, or both. No money changed hands and no copyright infringement is intended or implied.
Summary: Even when Bruce isn't in Gotham, there's still work to be done. Or, Tim works a case without Bruce. Dick and Alfred help.
Spoilers: All of TAS is fair game.
Continuity: Mostly DCAU. I am tossing Return of the Joker, Mystery of the Batwoman, and the TAS episode “Girls Nite Out,” though, to make this 'verse mesh with having Cassandra in it, and having a slightly less depressing resolution for the original Bat-clan going into Batman Beyond. Other than the named parts, though, this is a DCAU story.
Author's Notes: This goes to a very slightly AU series I have all mapped out that I may periodically write in. I've got some bunnies for it anyway. At this point in the series, the major points are, Barbara has been shot and is now the DCAU version of Oracle. Tim was recently kidnapped by the Joker, when he worked out who Batman was. Joker beat him nearly to death, but he was rescued by Bruce and Dick in time. In response to this, Bruce and Dick finally worked out their issues and their relationship is on the mend. Cassandra has not yet entered the picture.
This story is in the same continuity as “World's Finest?” though it comes prior to it in the timeline.
Unlike Timm and Dini, I do not have to write the level of violence down for the children in the audience. Expect dead people.

Summary: Atlantis' flagship team muses over the important questions of life.
Pairing(s): None.
Disclaimer: Stargate: Atlantis and related characters and situations are the property of MGM Studios Inc. No money changed hands and no copyright infringement is intended or implied.
Author's Notes: Inspired by a game of “Cliff, Marry, Screw” on Fandom!Secrets one day. This story is a drabble.

“Oh, I've got one,” Rodney said, looking pleased. “Wraith, replicator, goa'uld.”

There was a long pause.

“Would throwing a wraith off a cliff hurt it that much?” Ronan finally asked.

“More importantly, can you have sex with a Replicator?” John asked from his place at the helm of the jumper.

“A human-form one…maybe,” Rodney said, trailing off as he realized that no one had verified whether human-form Replicators had the appropriate parts.

“But we all agree in marrying the goa'uld?” Teyla asked.

“Sure,” John shrugged. “You could strangle them while they're asleep.”

I am posting this list, in large part, for my own enjoyment, as a way to consolidate the numerous favs lists I have on various sites and basically get all my favs into one place. I love reading, and I prefer plotty stories I can really sink my teeth into, so most of the recs on this list are 20,000 words or more. Those that are not will be marked as short stories. Links go to all sorts of archives, LJs, web pages, and other internet places of unknown descriptors. I have made no especial effort to discover if any of these stories exist on any given website for easy favoriting, nor will I. Every story on the list is complete. Even if it's updated regularly, I will not add anything to the list until it is complete.

I have a heading called "demi-crossovers." This refers to stories that cross two or more canons that are officially part of the same universe. Stargate: SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis, for example. Or Buffy, Angel, and Fray. Not quite a one-verse story, but not precisely a full-on crossover, either.
