Warning(s): minor language, graphic violence
Pairing(s): slight Tim Drake/OFC
Disclaimer: “Batman” and all related characters and concepts are the property of DC Comics, Warner Brothers, or both. No money changed hands and no copyright infringement is intended or implied.
Summary: Serial murders in Gotham are not unusual. Making friends during the investigation is a bit new. Whether you can keep them when the investigation is over? Tim isn’t sure he’s old enough to have figured that one out yet.
Spoilers: Everything is fair game.
Continuity: Direct references to the Batman: The Animated Series episode "Growing Pains." I am assuming you have watched it and know how it goes. I am assuming you will not be confused by references to that episode that don't rehash the whole plot of it as a refresher.
Series: The DC Stories
Author's Notes: Unlike Timm and Dini, I do not have to write the level of violence down for the children in the audience. Expect dead people.

Disclaimer: All copyrighted characters, situations, settings, and events belong to DC Comics, Warner Brothers, the CW, or some combination thereof (I think that’s everybody). No money has changed hands, and no copyright infringement is intended or implied.
Summary: He was a superhero, and he was looking forward to a college football game. Bart Allen had officially lost every claim to coolness he had ever had. Granted, a lot of other people seemed to be looking forward to it, too. Including, unfortunately, some maybe-speedsters who were definitely-criminals.
Continuity: This is not in continuity with any comics or tv shows. It belongs with the DC series I've got up. Just read the fics tagged for Bart Allen in the listed order and you'll have the required backstory.

Summary: Being hauled out of the Speed Force and thrust back into the world was the best. Reuniting with his sister was even better (although it did involve a slight amount of being punched in the face). Captain Cold was ready to take on the world again. …Except for the tiny problem where he didn't want to be a bad guy anymore, but he didn't know how to be anything else.
Spoilers: Whole episode spoilers for Batman: the Animated Series episode “The Terrible Trio.” Bits and mentions of significant Arrow!verse events involving Leonard Snart, Mick Rory, Lisa Snart, and Hartley Rathaway. Most of the other spoilers are for events in this series. Erm…I guess if you didn’t know Bart was Impulse or something?
Continuity: Canon compliance for Arrow!verse ends at Legends season 2, Arrow season 5, The Flash season 3. Supergirl is totally disregarded (she exists in this series, but not as the Arrow!verse version). Otherwise, this is my own AU that is more Dini-verse than anything else, but isn’t 100% in continuity with any existing canons for anything.
Author's Notes: Written for NaNoWriMo 2017. (Didn’t win. Too short, and didn’t finish on time. But that’s where this got started.)

I am an American, writing about American characters (with the exception of a brief cameo by Julian Albert). I have tried to make a note of cultural references that may be a little more obscure at the end, but if something befuddles you, drop me a comment or whatever and I’ll happily add a note in the author’s comments when I get a moment.

Summary: Ray Palmer was good at math. Even when math was people. People were just…really complicated math. But that was okay, because he was good at math, so complicated equations didn't scare him. He was still working on figuring out the Unified Theory of Mick Rory, though.
Rating: G
Characters/Pairings: Ray Palmer, Mick Rory, Bart Allen, Martin Stein, Rip Hunter, Sara Lance, Jefferson "Jax" Jackson, Amaya Jiwe, Cisco Ramon, Leonard Snart, Barry Allen, Nate Heywood
Warnings/Tags: None.
Spoilers: Parts of Legends Of Tomorrow seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 is presumed not to exist. General Arrow!verse spoilers. The “Invasion!” storyline did not happen in this universe, though, the major result of which is that Mick doesn’t know Barry’s name. Minor references to DCAU things, like the Justice League.
Disclaimer: "The Flash," and the "Legends of Tomorrow," and all related characters and situations are the property of DC Comics, Warner Brothers, the CW, or some combination of those entities. No money changed hands and no copyright infringement is intended or implied.
Author’s Notes: THIS IS NOT AN EXPLICITLY ARROW-VERSE STORY! Do not assume that it is, you will be very confused. Ray Palmer is the Arrow-verse Palmer, but Impulse is more-or-less the comics version. And the dominant timeline for this series is the DCAU Timm/Dini-verse.

Summary: Hearing Bart Allen toss off that he didn’t really have a team was doing things to Bruce’s blood pressure. Maybe it was that it was so casual. Somehow, it felt wrong for a boy that enthusiastic to be that accustomed to being alone.

Warnings/Tags: None. This one's pretty fluffy.

Title: Being Bart
Rating: PG
Summary: Bart Allen muses on what he is and what he isn’t. And does some schoolwork, but that doesn’t come into the story much.
Characters/Pairings: Bart Allen, Tim Drake, Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson
Warnings: so much fluff it could drown you
Disclaimer: “Impulse,” “Batman”, and all related characters and situations are the property of DC Comics, Warner Brothers, or both. No money changed hands and no copyright infringement is intended or implied.
Author’s Notes: This is in the same continuity as “World’s Finest?” and “Crimefighting’s For The Birds.” Also, I am apparently allergic to writing Batman stories that actually feature Batman as a main character. What the heck, brain?

The AU is not very AU-y, BTW. I’m just meshing comics with the DCAU. DCAU takes precedence, though if I get this series written very far it will be a DCAU that goes towards Batman Beyond with a less lonely and unhappy Bruce than canon!Bruce.

Title: Crimefighting's For The Birds
Rating: Erm…PG to PG-13. Ish.
Pairing(s): none
Disclaimer: “Batman” and all related characters and situations are the property of DC Comics, Warner Brothers, or both. No money changed hands and no copyright infringement is intended or implied.
Summary: Even when Bruce isn't in Gotham, there's still work to be done. Or, Tim works a case without Bruce. Dick and Alfred help.
Spoilers: All of TAS is fair game.
Continuity: Mostly DCAU. I am tossing Return of the Joker, Mystery of the Batwoman, and the TAS episode “Girls Nite Out,” though, to make this 'verse mesh with having Cassandra in it, and having a slightly less depressing resolution for the original Bat-clan going into Batman Beyond. Other than the named parts, though, this is a DCAU story.
Author's Notes: This goes to a very slightly AU series I have all mapped out that I may periodically write in. I've got some bunnies for it anyway. At this point in the series, the major points are, Barbara has been shot and is now the DCAU version of Oracle. Tim was recently kidnapped by the Joker, when he worked out who Batman was. Joker beat him nearly to death, but he was rescued by Bruce and Dick in time. In response to this, Bruce and Dick finally worked out their issues and their relationship is on the mend. Cassandra has not yet entered the picture.
This story is in the same continuity as “World's Finest?” though it comes prior to it in the timeline.
Unlike Timm and Dini, I do not have to write the level of violence down for the children in the audience. Expect dead people.

Summary: Batman and Superman are an unstoppable team. Superboy and Robin are best friends. So Batgirl and Supergirl teaming up would just make sense. …Wouldn’t it?
Characters/Pairings: Cassandra Cain and Kara Zor-El. Absolutely no pairings of any kind. Clark only mentions Lois in passing and Bruce isn’t even seeing Selena on the side. That’s how much of a not-shipping story this is.
Universe: AU. An AU, somewhere between the DCAU and the comics. Kara Zor-El and Cassandra Cain are both from the comics, but from a place before Infinite Crisis and OYL. General continuity-wise, things are closer to the cartoons than the comics, though, and this isn’t set in any specific comic arc (in fact, to try would drive me absolutely bonkers). The Joker is straight out of TAS.
Spoilers: ...Caveat lector.
Disclaimer: Batgirl, Supergirl, and every other character or thing in this story are the property of DC Comics, Warner Brothers or both. No copyright infringement is intended or implied.
Author’s Notes: I’ve been wanting to write this story for such a long time, but I never really had the motivation to actually finish it. Except that now, I do. Go me.
Also, Gotham may be in Anystate, USA in the comics, but for my story, I am superimposing it over real life Delaware City. I need a fixed location in my head in order to write and New York has been done to death. I don’t think this actually comes into the story at all, but there you go.

This series got big enough to deserve its own page, so here it is, in all its glory, along with some relevant notes and explanations.

The DC Stories

Stuck In The Mud - December 24, 2020
Serial murders in Gotham are not unusual. Making friends during the investigation is a bit new. Whether you can keep them when the investigation is over? Tim isn’t sure he’s old enough to have figured that one out yet.

Crimefighting's For The Birds - August 14, 2012
Even when Bruce isn't in Gotham, there's still work to be done.

Solve For X - October 12, 2017
Ray Palmer was good at math. Even when math was people. People were just…really complicated math. But that was okay, because he was good at math, so complicated equations didn't scare him. He was still working on figuring out the Unified Theory of Mick Rory, though.

Rogues, Inc. - March 28, 2018
Being hauled out of the Speed Force and thrust back into the world was the best. Reuniting with his sister was even better (although it did involve a slight amount of being punched in the face). Captain Cold was ready to take on the world again. …Except for the tiny problem where he didn't want to be a bad guy anymore, but he didn't know how to be anything else.

Being Bart - February 10, 2013
Bart Allen muses on what he is and what he isn’t. And does some schoolwork, but that doesn’t come into the story much.

Acting On Impulse - July 12, 2017
Hearing Bart Allen toss off that he didn’t really have a team was doing things to Bruce’s blood pressure. Maybe it was that it was so casual. Somehow, it felt wrong for a boy that enthusiastic to be that accustomed to being alone. Companion piece to "Being Bart."

Ever To Conquer, Never To Yield - March 1, 2019
He was a superhero, and he was looking forward to a college football game. Bart Allen had officially lost every claim to coolness he had ever had. Granted, a lot of other people seemed to be looking forward to it, too. Including, unfortunately, some maybe-speedsters who were definitely-criminals.

World's Finest - September 16. 2009
Batman and Superman are an unstoppable team. Superboy and Robin are best friends. So Batgirl and Supergirl teaming up would just make sense. …Wouldn’t it?

Moar Notes: This universe is largely an excuse for me to play with my conception of the Batman universe. My views of these characters were initially shaped by the Timm/Dini-verse, and later by various factoids gleaned from fandom, and only minimally from the comics themselves. With the result, for example, that Cassandra-in-my-head comes almost entirely from the comics while Tim Drake comes almost entirely from Batman: The Animated Series.

Angie Harmon is my favorite of the Barbara Gordon actors, and so it is her I imagine as Barbara/Batgirl/Oracle in this series. I know she came pretty late in the game, but she's got such a lovely alto voice.

I am tossing Mystery of the Batwoman (can you blame me?). Mask of the Phantasm is counted, however. I am not going to be aiming for continuity with Return of the Joker, though I am actually going to aim for general continuity with Batman Beyond.

The Tim Drake in this series takes his origin story from “Sins of the Father” and not the comics. However, he has a lot of comic!Tim's traits, such as his skill with computers and his capacity as a detective.

If you can find it, there is a theme for my naming of the Gotham sports teams.

Eventually when this universe got underway, I started a wiki to keep all my notes in. I use wikidpad to build it, and I highly recommend it as a note-taking program. It's easy to use, change, and cross-reference.

BTW, There is absolutely no Damian Wayne. None. At all. Conner, Bart, Kara, Cassandra Cain, and Cassie Sandsmark, however, do exist in this continuity and may come up from time-to-time. I haven't figured out how to get Jason into this universe yet, so I'm leaving him open-ended.
